Wet and Muddy Week

Wet and Muddy Week

We endured lots of rain and mud for our sessions this week. ☔️ There was a good turn out - both adults and juniors - for a tough but enjoyable intervals session in the pouring rain on Tuesday. Our two Thursday groups were well-motivated with the prospect of our monthly ‘run and pub’ awaiting them. Those who chose the longer route received the added bonus of mud… LOTS of mud! At least the sun came out for our parkrunners! ?...

Transition Week

Transition Week

This week has been TRANSITION WEEK! ? Our Thursday routes, both longer and shorter, have been getting progressively longer over the last couple of months. This week, both dropped back down to be at their shortest. This is no accident! The routes are carefully scheduled so that when a C25k group graduates, the shorter route is accessible for them at around 5km, and gradually builds up from there. At the same time, the distances of the longer routes also drop down. This is to help people who have been running the shorter routes to smoothly transition onto the longer routes. The clocks have now gone forwards so we've lighter nights to look forward to as we continue our running journeys. Lots of you have been getting out there under your own steam too, to supplement what the club currently offer. Well done! We've been dot-watching and eating curry this week too - never a dull moment at HARC!...

One week to go!

One week to go!

Just one week to go until our Couch to 5k graduation at Fountains Abbey parkrun. This week has seen them tackling 30 minutes of continuous running at each of the three sessions; that’s 90 minutes of running in total and a far cry from the 60 second intervals of week 1! As a reward for their efforts, the sun shone down on their final run of the week. ☀️ The group have done a fantastic job of supporting each other. They’ve trusted the programme and their leaders, and are absolutely ready to smash through 5km next week. Go, couchies! ??? HARC Athletes with a ‘Spring’ in their step

By Ruth Hancock. Since our last report, members of Hambleton Athletics and Running Club have been very busy achieving a variety of personal goals and working hard to raise funds for charity. Phill Heward became HARC’s first recipient of a club place at the London Marathon. Phill was really happy to finish in 4hr 10 min. He said “It was every bit as tough as I expected but even more enjoyable than I’d hoped. Thanks to all for the encouragement and to HARC for the opportunity.” Graham Finlay achieved a huge milestone of 200 Parkruns in April and chose his favourite at Fountains Abbey to host this momentous occasion. As ever, HARC members turned out in force to support him and celebrated with a special cake in the café afterwards. At the Kieran Maxwell Memorial event in Middlesbrough, junior shot putter Harvey Wilkinson secured the top spot with a personal best throw of 11.38m and edges closer to the UK top 20 as a...
