? BATTLE STATIONS, TEAM HARC! ?

We recently returned for our second visit to Elite Squad Laser Tag for another battle! The venue organised a number of games for us and although there were some serious tactical strategies in play, we laughed so much that it was quite difficult to maintain our hiding positions. The randomly selected teams - Alpha and Bravo - were surprisingly evenly matched which made the competition all the more exciting. Everyone came away with big smiles and smeared camouflage paint - surely signs of a great evening out! ?...

Team HARC started 2024 with a bang!

Our athletes have started 2024 with a bang! Team HARC have taken on a wide variety of events since the start of January and we are proud of every single result. Firstly, a special mention to Victoria Maidwell for her fantastic performance at the Shakespeare Marathon, earning her a PB of 03:56:55. Victoria shows incredible commitment to her training, working extremely hard to push herself for every new challenge. Huge congratulations on breaking through the sub-4 hour mark, Victoria – we look forward to seeing you smash your next targets! Joanne Sinnott has continued her passion for ultra-distance events with a 50 mile run from Manchester to Liverpool. Jo relishes the kind of distances most of us only dream of… or perhaps have nightmares about! Huge well done, Jo – you are a machine! There was a great HARC turnout for this year’s Thirsk 10 Mile and Lightwater Valley 10k events, which fell on the same day. These are two very different events...

Wet and Muddy Week

Wet and Muddy Week

We endured lots of rain and mud for our sessions this week. ☔️ There was a good turn out - both adults and juniors - for a tough but enjoyable intervals session in the pouring rain on Tuesday. Our two Thursday groups were well-motivated with the prospect of our monthly ‘run and pub’ awaiting them. Those who chose the longer route received the added bonus of mud… LOTS of mud! At least the sun came out for our parkrunners! ?...

One of the biggest weekends in athletics has arrived…

It’s the LONDON MARATHON - generally accepted as the most special marathon in the world (and one of the “majors”). We have four HARC members taking part: Shalev Bahalul is one of our latest members and has travelled all the way from Israel to take part. Look out for him in his HARC vest - but don’t blink or you’ll miss him as he is hoping to break the 2:30 threshold for the first time tomorrow. Mary Gregory⁩ has her own target as she returns to London for the second time. Ruth Hancock⁩ will be enjoying the club place she won in our ballot last year, and putting all that brilliant training into practice. And Joanne Sinnott⁩ will finally be getting her chance to experience this amazing event, after years of trying to get a place. Very best of luck to our runners and indeed everyone taking part in this amazing event! It’s the LONDON MARATHON - generally accepted as the most special marathon in the world...

Transition Week

Transition Week

This week has been TRANSITION WEEK! ? Our Thursday routes, both longer and shorter, have been getting progressively longer over the last couple of months. This week, both dropped back down to be at their shortest. This is no accident! The routes are carefully scheduled so that when a C25k group graduates, the shorter route is accessible for them at around 5km, and gradually builds up from there. At the same time, the distances of the longer routes also drop down. This is to help people who have been running the shorter routes to smoothly transition onto the longer routes. The clocks have now gone forwards so we've lighter nights to look forward to as we continue our running journeys. Lots of you have been getting out there under your own steam too, to supplement what the club currently offer. Well done! We've been dot-watching and eating curry this week too - never a dull moment at HARC!...
