Acklam Grange, Middlesbrough Sunday 1st October
The first meet of the season took place at Acklam Grange School this Sunday, on an unseasonably warm, humid day. The course was thankfully dry, but no less gruelling than in previous years.
It’s certainly eye-opening to be running against some of the most outstanding XC runners the region has to offer, who make it look exceptionally easy. However, there was ample support around the course from all teams who participate, making it one of the friendliest competitions available.
HARC had some ‘newbies’ to the team this year, joined by old-hands Christopher Lees and Ruth Hancock. Well done on your inaugural performances, Luke Allen, Marc Blair and Samantha Scarlett! The bar has been set.
Thanks too, to Alice Inglis who came to support the team, and has ended up signing up for the rest of the season!
